It was a dark and rainy night and I was driving home from a mid-week networking event. I was tired and ready to be home. It felt like the same mundane drive that I have made countless times passing by the same gas stations, Walgreens, countless mini vans, a movie theater, I could keep going, but I think you get the picture. I was making one of my final turns when I drove past an auto body shop with a lit up sign near the street. The sign caught my eye, "If you don't put any work into your dream ... View the Post
“Shoulder taps” the next dance craze?
About a week ago, I was leaving my favorite coffee shop when on the corner I noticed a family standing with a sign. They weren't there five minutes before when I pulled in, but they were there now. I didn't get to read the whole sign, but what I did see was this word, "hommless." It was a father, mother, and two young children. If I had to guess the children were three and one. This wasn't the first time I have seen someone holding a sign like this before, but this was the first time that I saw ... View the Post
Don’t wait…say it today!
This month marks the three-year anniversary of my Aunt Linda's passing. Three years since our lives were turned upside down. Three years since everything changed. Because you see, Linda was the one who really held the family together like glue. She would make sure that a holiday wouldn't go by that someone didn't have a place to be. She would be the one who would make sure she "showed up," even when it was probably the hardest for her to get there. I get asked a lot why The Linda Project? It's ... View the Post
The best race to run…is yours!
Last weekend I had the privilege of attending the Northwestern Christian Writer's Conference. I have never been to a Christian writer's conference before, I didn't even know there was such a thing. I got all of the usual "prepare for your conference" emails and as a person who follows the rules, I did. I printed business cards, read about the sessions before hand, and also read about the faculty. I thought I would be among a couple hundred participants and that this would be a small ... Top 10 Kid-Friendly Twin Cities summer bucket list!
I can't believe that it's almost July! Where does the time go? Too fast if you ask me. Now that I'm settling into my "new normal" the boys are going to be staying home with me a couple of days a week at least through the summer. I'm really looking forward to spending more time with them, but I know that I'll need to keep them busy. In all hopes of being intentional, I thought that I would put together my top 10 list for the summer! Summer in the Twin Cities is why we live in Minnesota, right? ... View the Post
Transitions aren’t always easy…
Monday was the first day of my "new life." I closed the chapter on my full-time position the Friday before and I was ready to jump into my new career. I bought my new computer, decorated my home office (pictures coming), and my small business became official (at least with the state), I'm now the proud owner of Jenna Allerson Consulting, LLC. I had checked off all the boxes to get me to this Monday, but now what? I sat down at my computer and started to feel overwhelmed and started second ... View the Post
