Today’s post is very special. I’m here to share with you Cody’s story and her passion and commitment behind wanting to help out with the Linda Project. She graciously came to Jenna and I about a week ago asking if she could help fundraise. We were blown away by this offer. Although we are not a non-profit, we definitely are in need of funds for resources and gifting. After reading Cody’s story below, you will see how her involvement with Jamberry has led her to a creative idea on how she can help The Linda Project. Her passion behind this is amazing, and we couldn’t be more thankful for this opportunity. Thank you Cody from the bottom of our hearts, and THANK YOU READERS for any contribution you can make towards this. If you don’t use Jamberry nails, they make a great gift option! I’m planning to actually have a JAM Party at one of my next support group meetings where we can all have a fun time putting these on. (For those unaware, while going through infertility treatments you are not allowed to wear any type of nailpolish due to the chemicals. This is one of the many reasons Jamberry can be so fun for us infertile girls!)
Cody Casperson’s Story-
My husband and I got married in 2007. We dreamed of having a family naturally and then possibly adding to it later by adoption. We figured it would be easy to get pregnant…..we were wrong. About a year into our marriage we decided we were ready to start our family. I remember that spring telling people at work how I couldn’t wait until next spring because I would be home on maternity leave. Our journey to become pregnant was unsuccessful. After about a year we met with fertility specialists to figure out what was “wrong” with us. We tried different procedures with no success. Each month I took tests and each month saw that negative sign. Meanwhile, all of my friends and family were getting pregnant easily or without even trying. It was a very hard time for me. After about a year of medications, ultrasounds, pokes, needles, and numerous doctor appointments, I told my husband I couldn’t do it anymore. I needed a break. We stopped everything. We booked a trip to Florida. On that trip we decided to explore adoption. We went to our first informational session in April. First home study visit in June, and officially approved in July. Our adoption journey had many ups and downs. We had a few heartaches. But in November 2010, we got our call to come and meet our son. Our story doesn’t end there…. At the start of all of this, I felt so alone. I cried all the time. I wasn’t happy. Our marriage wasn’t the same. No one I knew had experienced this.
Along our infertility journey I met many women who were fighting the same battle. Some had success, many did not. Some chose to be child less, some added to their family through adoption. These women I met on the internet gave me hope. They were my closest confidants during that time. I felt like a failure of a wife to not give my husband a child. It was too hard to be around all my pregnant friends. Online support groups helped me so much. When I heard Laura and Jenna were starting The Linda Project, I knew immediately I wanted to be a part of it. I want to support other women who are so desperately trying to achieve their dreams on becoming a mother. I want to be there for them when they feel like they are alone. Infertility can be draining physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. We are still working on paying off our adoption debt almost six years later. I started my Jamberry journey over two years ago. When I started my goal was to pay off our adoption debt. It’s still my goal, but it has become so much more. I am able to give back and help others through fundraising.
So until October 8th, I am donating 100% of my commission to The Linda Project.
